Fixing Desktop App Installation Issues
Having trouble installing or updating the Guilded desktop app? No stress—we’ve got a few things you can try to get things back on track.
Before we jump into the steps, here are a couple of things to check first:
Quick checks before you begin
- Third-party software – Security or antivirus apps can sometimes block installs. Try turning them off temporarily while you install.
- Unsupported systems – Guilded no longer supports Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. If you’re using those, try using Guilded in your browser instead.
Clean install steps (Windows)
If your install is getting stuck or acting weird, do this:
-
Close Guilded completely
- Right-click the Guilded icon in the system tray and click Quit
- Open Task Manager (
Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and make sure all Guilded-related processes are closed
-
Close all browser sessions
- If you’re logged into Guilded in a browser too, close those tabs just to be safe
-
Clear leftover files
- Press
Win + Rand type:%AppData%
Find the Guilded folder and delete it - Do the same with:
%LocalAppData%
Find and delete the guilded-updater folder
- Press
- Restart your PC or laptop
- Download the latest version from the official site and run the installer
Still not working?
If the install fails again:
- Go to
%LocalAppData% - Open the
guilded-updaterfolder - Right-click the installer
